Oh, just as the weather is cooling down for the bank holiday weekend, the line-up for THEATRE IN THE FIELDS 2019 is HOTTING UP!
As the application deadline is drawing to a close (end of may! submit your show now on our website!), we are starting to see how the day will shape up. Very exciting shows across the genres - we don't want to give tooooooo much away as we will be announcing people soon, but we can say that it will certainly be a day to remember! :)
The idea for this festival is that you can enjoy a full day of theatre, food, drinks and workshops for less than the cost of a ticket to a West End show. Entry to the festival is £15 (adult), £13 (concession) and £10 (child). Once you are in, there is loads of free theatre going on, a chance to get involved with facepainting and dancing and clowning and live music popping up around the festival. There are also ticketed shows where you buy a ticket (max £5) to see a fully produced production in a main space (this is so the actors make some money out of all the hard work that goes on in the months of prep, travelling, rehearsing etc!). There are also food stalls and obviously THE BAR! Unlimited theatre-fun for the whole day, and the option to camp overnight! This is so you can tailor the festival to suit you and your budget :)
Already, we have a monologue segment called THE STAGE IS YOURS, giving actors and writers the platform to perform a piece from 5-20mins long as part of a showcase. There is also a segment called JUST SAY IT! featuring poetry and spoken word. Some theatrical bands performing music, definitely some groovy interactive dance workshops, yoga, our horse-box vintage Photo Booth with a plethora of wacky outfits to try on, an immersive tea-tent (have a drink there at your own peril....you might enjoy a cup of SerendipiTEA or RealiTEA or it could be ImpossibiliTEA). The return of Stageys in the Stixx, a crowd favourite from last year, as well as some stand-up, a restoration comedy, a historic play, some one-person shows, children's theatre and some musical theatre thrown in for good measure! The list is ever growing! That's all we will give away for now, but keep your eyes peeled for the announcements coming soon! :)
